NOTE: We are several days behind in updating the blog due to technical issues. I will catch up as quickly as possible. Sorry for the delay. We have been posting on Facebook as well as on Instagram under honduras_agape_trip_2023
Greetings and thank you for following our trip to Honduras. This trip is taking place during Spring Break in Aiken County, and 8 people (including 4 teenagers) are forgoing a family vacation to instead come here and help those less fortunate. The team consists of:
Rebekah Muir-St. John’s Director of Student Ministries
Amy Jernigan- St John’s Assistant Director of Student Ministries
Martha Davisson
Tommy Patterson
Ella Jernigan-freshman at South Aiken
Eva Jernigan-seventh grade at Tall Pines Academy
Mary Davisson-freshman at South Aiken
Connor Patterson-sophomore at South Aiken
Our first day was all travel. After a brief scramble on Friday night due to a last minute flight cancellation, we met at St. John’s at 2:30 AM for the bus ride to Columbia airport. We made our 5:22 AM flight to Atlanta but then got a bit delayed by some bad weather. We finally arrived in San Pedro at 11:48 AM local time (2 hours behind Aiken) and found Maynor and his crew waiting for us. The ride to Quimistan was uneventful and we got settled in, had dinner and rested up for our first work day.
